Antarctica 2026 Workshop

In February 2026 Nigel Danson, Mads Peter Iversen & I will be heading back to Antarctica for our third photography workshop with Aurora Expeditions, and we would love for you to join us.

If you’re interested, please enquire with Aurora Expeditions through the link at the bottom of this page.

Antarctica is the closest thing I’ve ever experienced to a different planet. The peaks, the light, the quantity of ice, the wildlife and the silence all make for a trip that’s impossible to forget, and of course bringing a camera only aides that further…

A few highlights of the 2026 trip:

  • Peak Season for wildlife. This year we saw penguins, orcas, humpbacks and leopard seals numerous times with lots of chances to photograph them.

  • We’ll be aboard my favourite Aurora ship, the Greg Mortimer. She’s a wonderful place to call home for these polar expeditions, and she has plenty of deck options for photography too.

  • We’ll fly into King George Island to maximise our time in Antarctica, before sailing back across the Drake Passage at the end of the trip.

  • Myself, Nigel, Mads and 6 other photographers will be on hand from dawn until dusk for all of your questions. We’ll also be running talks and tutorials between landings and zodiac trips.

  • Also I’m pretty pumped about the food. These trips are mostly referred to as expeditions, but there is nothing ‘ration pack’ about dining on board. Turns out the best BBQ I’ve ever had was just after a polar plunge in a cool 2 degrees celsius. It was sunny mind…
